Summer in Northwest Montana is an outdoor enthusiasts’ dream location. From trails to water, the adventures are endless. The summer season may be short, but the days are long, offering plenty of time to pack in the activities during your stay.

1. Trail of the Cedars at Avalanche - Trail of the Cedars is the most popular trail in Glacier National Park. The trail is easily accessible, easy to do, and is simply breathtaking.

2. See a Glacier - With the current warming trends, glaciers inside Glacier National Park are disappearing. See a glacier while you still can. Jackson Glacier is viewable from the Going to the Sun Road, east of Logan Pass. View this Glacier from the roadside pullout and parking area.

3. Boat Ride in Many Glacier - There are boat rides available for a cruise at Lake McDonald, Two Medicine, St. Mary and Many Glacier. All the boat rides are entertaining, but the epic mountains surrounding Swiftcurrent Lake in Many Glacier make this boat ride genuinely magical.

4. Drive the Going to the Sun Road - The Going to the Sun Road is one of the coolest roads in the U.S.A. If time permits, drive the roadway both directions to experience every angle of beauty that this road offers.

5. Take a Red Bus Tour - The vintage Red Busses are a piece of history that is truly special to Glacier National Park and the Park Service as a whole. With convertible tops and professional driver guides, a Red Bus Tour is well worth the time and money.

6. Visit the Historic Lodges and Hotel - Lake McDonald Lodge, Many Glacier Hotel and East Glacier Lodge are historic structures built in the early 1900s. Each one is unique and worthy of a visit.

7. Raft the Middle Fork of the Flathead River - On a hot day, the Middle Fork is the best place to cool down and have some fun. Head to West Glacier where numerous professional raft companies are located and offer guided raft trips on the Flathead Rivers.

8. Summit a Mountain - Achieve a goal by hiking to the top of a mountain. In West Glacier, Apgar Mountain offers a moderate hike to the top with grand views of Lake McDonald and the Rocky Mountains.

9. Eat huckleberries - Huckleberries look like similar to blueberries but with a more purplish color and a much more tart taste. Stop by a local eatery for freshly picked huckleberries or a huckleberry treat, like pie or ice cream. Yum!

10. Spot a Bear - Glacier National Park is home to grizzly bears and black bears. Keep an eye out for wildlife while driving the Going to the Sun Road. If a bear is spotted, keep a safe distance and stay in the car. Stop by a ranger station for additional information on bears and hiking safety.

With all these activities ahead of you, we recommend booking your vacation at a conveniently located, family-friendly, clean, and affordable place. Mountain Meadow RV Park in Hungry Horse meets all these criteria and offers more.

Not traveling in a camper? No worries, we offer cozy cabins and tent sites too. Enjoy your stay in Northwest Montana, camp at Mountain Meadow.
